Texas near top for ‘sinners’ among states, according to report
Since the days of the Old West, Texas has had a reputation of being a haven for beer drinkers and hell raisers. And while the Lone Star State has become more civilized, it seems our sinful ways still linger.
According to a new study by WalletHub, Texas ranks only behind Nevada among the “Most Sinful States in the U.S.”

So how do you quantify sin? WalletHub boiled it down to a Vice Index which ranked factors such as anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, and lust.
“Our data set ranges from violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking to share of the population with gambling disorders,”” states WalletHub. If you want to see their full methodology, click here.

So what makes Texas so sinful? Texas ranked No.1 in Lust, meaning most time spent on “adult” websites. The state was in 8th in jealousy, or thefts per capita, and 6th in vanity, reflecting the number of beauty salons per capita.
Above you can see the top 10 sinful states according to the study. And if you want to leave the bad seeds behind you, consider moving to Vermont or Wyoming.
