The shooters fled in a dark-colored SUV. What preceded the gunfire remains unclear.
Moments after the shooting, a dark-colored SUV was involved in a high-speed crash about five miles away. Two men inside the SUV were trapped and had to be freed with special tools used by firefighters.
Shannon said detectives are looking into whether the SUV involved in the crash was the same as the one involved in the shooting. No weapons were found at the crash site, Shannon said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
