Teen killed when BMW splits in half during crash on Highway 6 identified
A teenager was killed, and two others were seriously injured when a BMW split in half during a crash Friday morning in west Harris County.
The 16-year-old BMW driver was southbound on Texas Highway 6 near Loch Katrine Lane around 2:30 a.m. when the 47-year-old driver of a white Hummer pulled into the roadway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The two vehicles slammed into each other, which sent the BMW careening into a light pole.

The car split in half when it hit the pole, investigators said. The front portion of the car – carrying the three teenagers – kept moving and crashed into a tree, killing 16-year-old passenger Tristan Sanders.
The Hummer wound up in a ditch.
The driver and the other 18-year-old passenger in the BMW were rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
The 47-year-old Hummer driver, identified as Carlos Ayala, was charged with DWI.
Guien said investigators are looking for video of the crash to help determine who was at fault and if additional charges are necessary.
